Frosty’s Fresh | Interview

Frosty’s Freshtival is traveling to cities around the nation this year. Huge glassblowers in the game are coming together to show their craft. Frosty’s Fresh continues to help give back to the community by uniting fans of glass and glass blowers alike. The line-up includes artists Hoodrattshit, Rob Morrison, Rosburg Glass, and of course the dude himself, Frosty’s Fresh. Each individual glassblower brings their own flavor and unique designs to the table. One thing all of these gentlemen have in common is their intense passion for the craft of creating glass works of art. I was stoked to get the opportunity to speak with each glassblower on behalf of The Cannabis Cactus Magazine. Here’s what Frosty’s Fresh had to say…

Frosty's Fresh

The name Frosty’s Fresh stays fresh in the mind. How did you come up with the name?

My name comes from when I grew weed. I would harvest every two weeks non-stop so my weed was always Fresh and Frosty, thus I came up with Frosty’s Fresh. After the raids on my grow I decided to keep my name as a fuck you to the police and anyone else that was looking down on what I did.

How does the positive influence of the glass community fuel your work?

I definitely see both side of the coin! I have a huge support and following of my work. I call these people the Frosty’s Fresh Army. They show me amazing love. They support the art I make and continue supporting my work. This is how I fee my family and pay the bills. I cannot be more thankful for everyone supporting me. The Frosty’s Fresh Army also pushes me to improve and refine my work. They push me to new heights. Without them there would be no me.

You seem very Dude-like in nature, from The Big Lebowski. Does this abiding attitude you have range across the board including glassblowing as well?

The Big Lebowski is one of my all-time favorite movies! Fucking phone’s ringing, Dude! Or shut the fuck up, Donnie (laughs)! I try to be more dude-like as I get older. The dude had mastered not giving any fucks! I am not there yet but I try to take life one day at a time. I blow glass six days a week, sometimes seven days a week if there is work to be done. I try to balance work and family as well. I work to provide for my family and keep them happy! Spending time with them is a huge part of my life as well. All in all I try to take the dude approach to things that come my way and roll with the punches. Basically, the dude abides. Life was turned upside down three years ago, but that hasn’t stopped me from continuing to do what I love.

Frosty's Fresh

What a great dude! It’s truly amazing to get to know what goes on inside each creator’s world, and how they are able to make the pieces they do. It’s fascinating to hear from the artist what inspires them to make art, driving their passion for the craft to become something considered priceless by many. This event creates opportunities such as the community coming together, and providing a fun time for all while providing a glimpse into the actual glassblowing. If you’re unable to make it to the event there’s the opportunity of checking each glassblower out on social media, such as instagram. Each glassblower has their own page loaded with content of their work. Thank you and much love to Frosty, HoodRattShit, Rob Morrison, and Rosburg Glass for making this event possible.
