Dear Mama: How to Choose a Clinic
Dear Mama,
I want to take my mom to get a medical card to buy pot. I don’t have one, but my husband does and I don’t think she will like his certification clinic. There are so many of them now, I don’t know how to pick one that’s right for my mom. It’s been hard to convince her to even get a card, so I don’t want to freak her out with the clinic I pick.
Thanks, Jo
Dear Jo,
I think it’s great that your mom is ready to get her card and you’re willing to help her out with it. Back in the earlier days of certification, some clinics were really sketchy. Most of those didn’t make it once the industry was up and running. I’m sure a few are not quite mom approved, but for the most part, they’ve stepped up the professionalism and aesthetics.
The good news is you can drive by most of them and see if they look like somewhere you’d be comfortable bringing mom, and I bet any one of them would let you drop in first if you were still concerned about mom’s opinion of the place. The usual visit to one of these clinics will last less than thirty minutes – and no blood tests or disrobing – so it can be a quick chat and conversation about documents. One time they took my blood pressure, but that’s about the extent of contact during the certification visit. Easy!
So, ask a friend, drive by a place or two, even visit if needed, but this isn’t really a place mom will need to spend much time in or visit again for a year, so if its clean, pleasant and professional you should be all good.
Stay Lifted, Mama
