Curaleaf: A Trailblazerin Cannabis Innovation and Community Impact
The brand name Curaleaf is a staple in the cannabis industry, with many of their products being highly-reviewed Cannabis Cactus favorites over the years. Since its founding in 2010, Curaleaf has risen to prominence as a leading cannabis company across the United States. With a presence spanning 17 states, more than 150 dispensaries, and a workforce of nearly 5,000 employees, the company’s remarkable growth reflects its commitment to quality, innovation, and community engagement. To delve deeper into Curaleaf’s journey, products, and values, as well as its exciting new product launches this holiday season, we spoke with Phoenix-based Luke Flood, Curaleaf Sr. Vice President and Western Regional Leader.
Expanding the Reach of Curaleaf
Curaleaf’s story is one of rapid expansion and thoughtful innovation. Originally a single-state operator out of New Jersey, the company now serves millions of customers across the U.S. and offers a diverse portfolio of products tailored to different needs. In Arizona alone, Curaleaf operates 16 dispensaries, supported by five vertically integrated brands: Select, JAMS, Curaleaf, Find., and Grassroots.
“For more than a decade, we’ve focused on creating a nationwide network that delivers consistent, high-quality cannabis products to our customers,” Flood explained. “Our vertically integrated model ensures we can meet consumer demand while staying true to our commitment to quality and safety.”
This dedication to growth extends beyond dispensaries. Curaleaf continuously explores new markets and technologies, keeping it at the forefront of the cannabis industry in a space that requires constant flexibility and an openness to new ideas.
Revolutionizing Vape Products: Select Elite Terpologist
One of Curaleaf’s latest innovations is the Select Elite Terpologist line, an expansion of the Select vape portfolio. Featuring six new strains, this line showcases unique combinations of well-known strains to offer a fresh vaping experience.
Flood described the lineup: "We’ve introduced two sativas—Tropic Haze and Durban Fizz—two hybrids—Mountain Diesel and Pappy Poison—and two indicas—Brazzy Kush and Pina Gluelada. These new combinations highlight strains that are familiar but rarely crossed, like Durban Fizz, which blends Mimosa and Durban Poison.”
The goal of the Select Elite Terpologist line is to elevate the vaping experience for consumers seeking more nuanced flavors. By blending cannabis-derived and botanical terpenes, the line offers a balance of bold cannabis notes and unique flavor profiles.
“It’s an ideal choice for consumers who want to transition from fruity strains to something more complex and sophisticated,” Flood added.
JAMS Edibles: Tailored Experiences for Every Consumer
Another standout in Curaleaf’s portfolio is its JAMS line of edibles, which includes gummies, chewable tarts, and chocolate bars. The line offers a variety of formulations, each designed to deliver a specific experience.
Classic Jellies
Traditional gummies with a familiar onset and duration.
Fast-Acting Jellies & Chocos
Featuring nanoencapsulation technology, these edibles provide quicker effects, making them perfect for those seeking fast relief or a shorter duration.
JAMS Tarts
Using liposomal encapsulation, these chewable tarts release THC slowly, offering long-lasting effects.
JAMS Remix
A new addition featuring minor cannabinoids like THCV, CBG, and CBD, combined with wellness enhancers such as Vitamin B12 and melatonin.
Flood emphasized the versatility of the line: “Whether you’re looking for a quick onset, extended relief, or enhanced wellness benefits, JAMS has something to offer.”
Upcoming Launches and Seasonal Products
Curaleaf continues to expand its offerings, with several exciting products on the horizon. Recently, the company unveiled The Hemp Company by Curaleaf, a brand offering hemp-derived THC products available for direct shipping. The lineup includes:
Hemp THC Gummies: Available in formulations for fast-acting, long-lasting, or sleep-specific needs.
THC Seltzers: Lightly flavored beverages containing 5 mg of THC per dose, perfect for microdosing or casual use.
For the 2024 holiday season, Curaleaf is also launching a festive new product: the Red Eyed Reindeer vape. This limited-edition release comes in a custom-designed Select Briq device featuring a red exterior, white bow, and white mouthpiece. The flavor—reminiscent of a holiday vanilla cookie—is crafted to evoke the spirit of the season.
Flood noted, “We love creating products that not only deliver quality but also enhance the joy of special moments. Red Eyed Reindeer is a perfect example of that.”
Community Engagement and Philanthropy
Curaleaf’s commitment to community extends far beyond its product lines. Each year, the company engages in initiatives that give back to the communities it serves as a part of its Rooted in Good corporate social responsibility initiative.
In Arizona, Curaleaf partners with NourishAZ, a local organization dedicated to improving the lives of residents through food and resource support. Employees volunteer their time to support NourishAZ’s mission, strengthening ties with the local community.
Curaleaf also champions important causes through its product offerings. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the company partnered with ImpactOne Breast Cancer Foundation. To support the initiative, Curaleaf released a special flavor of JAMS Classic Jellies, Cherry Vanilla, across its Arizona dispensaries. For every unit sold, the company donated $1, raising over $3,000 for the foundation.
“These partnerships are integral to our values as a company,” Flood shared. “They allow us to use our platform to make a real difference.”
Looking Ahead: Curaleaf’s Vision for the Future
As Curaleaf continues to expand and innovate, its focus remains on creating exceptional products and fostering positive connections with customers and communities. With new product lines like Select Elite Terpologist and JAMS Remix, as well as initiatives like The Hemp Company by Curaleaf, the company is setting the stage for even greater success and longevity.
Flood summarized the company’s mission: “Our goal is to be more than a cannabis company. We aim to be a trusted partner in wellness and innovation, while remaining deeply connected to the communities we serve.”
By combining cutting-edge product development with a strong commitment to the communities it serves, Curaleaf is not only shaping the cannabis industry but also making a lasting impact on the world around it. Curaleaf’s story is one of growth, creativity, and heart. From its early beginnings as a medical device company intended to support cancer patient access to cannabis, to its current position as a leader in the cannabis market, the company’s journey is a testament to the power of innovation and community. As Curaleaf looks to the future, its dedication to quality, sustainability, and social good will undoubtedly keep it at the forefront of the industry for many years to come.
